I must say, I was truly overjoyed when Julie said she would be delighted to come onto Uniquely Moi Books! I feel so privileged today to bring to you, someone who used to be one of us, now is one of them! Huzzah! I am truly honored to have her here. Please give her a warm welcome today as she speaks about herself and how her love of reading turned to writing!
YA Lover Turned Romance Writer
I am an obsessive YA reader. I hate to say it, but Twilight turned me on to the genre and I went crazy reading all things YA for a few years. There’s something about the way teens will do anything in the name of love or friendship. They’ll risk suspension, reputation, punishment, or even death for a friend or a stranger. They are good at the core and they are fearless in the moment. I love that. I wish real life was that way more often. In YA there are no lying ex-husbands or custody fights or bills to pay. No pervy bosses or frustrating home maintenance. In YA, we get right into the meat of the conflict. This makes me happy.
I think my deep love of YA is one reason I shy away from writing it. There are too many uber amazing YA authors out there. They knock my socks off over and over, and I like it. So, when I found the submission call for a new line of books open to multiple genres, I tried my hand at sweet romance.
The romances threaded through YA is my favorite part. I want to know the heroine gets the guy she’s hoping for, and I want to know he’ll fight an evil faerie king or take on an army of undead to save her. In Honey Creek, faeries and zombies don’t pose a big problem, but there’s plenty of room for love. Over the past year, I’ve fallen for Honey Creek in a big girl head-over-heels kind of way. I love the little town and the nosey neighbors.
My favorite part is watching two soul mates figure out that they are. The sidelong glances, the “accidental” encounters…ahhh I swoon when I think of all the butterflies that go along with seeing the man of your dreams and wondering if he dreams of you too. Delicious first kisses and that first public outing together make me dreamy-eyed. And I want to squeeze my husband a little tighter. I believe everyone deserves an epic fairytale worthy love. Writing for Honey Creek means I can make that happen. *Smiling wildly* I am drunk with power and I’m bringing characters together two by two. I am the Noah of this little town and loving it!
I hope you’ll make a visit to Honey Creek. It’s a beautiful place where anything can happen. Kick off your shoes, relax into that porch swing, cuddle up to a steamy cup of tea and maybe by debut novella, Bloom. Taking a trip to Honey Creek is as easy as Amazon : ) See you there!
Bloom by Julie Anne Lindsey
In a town filled with her past, she never expected to find her future…
Seven years ago Cynthia left Honey Creek with a broken heart. Three years ago Mitchell arrived with one. Now Cynthia’s come home, and these two hardened hearts can’t stop arguing. If they’d only take a break long enough to find some common ground, they might be surprised to find love can grow anywhere.
If they’ll let it, love will find a way to Bloom.

Great interview. It sounds like a fabulous book, though I don't tend to read just romance. I like mine with a paranormal twist or fantasy of some sort.
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy. :)
