I love a good witch story along with the childhood theories and stories passed down from generation to generation. Scary stories being told, trying to get your children to believe them. Being a kid and actually thinking it's true. It's fun and exciting. I'm not sure why I don't read more about witches, as I'm fascinated by the thought of them. The Near Witch fits perfectly with what I just described. So why didn't I pick it up earlier?! I was furious with myself for waiting so long.
Victoria gripped me straight from the beginning and held me in one spot until the final words. I love the story that she has shared with us. All stories are only told to get little children to listen right? They aren't real. Right?! It's when a stranger comes to town that people go on edge. A child ends up going missing, causing Lexi to scope out the stranger, wanting to know more about him. Surely it isn't a connection? Lexi has a good heart and decides to ignore what the townspeople think. And when she meets Cole, she knows that it wasn't the stranger kidnapping the little children while they sleep. More go missing and Lexi just can't help going back to the old witches tale. Could it really be? The rumor is that she died many years ago. So who is taking the children? Lexi must find out before Cole is killed by the people and her younger sister Wren is taken along with the others. Wren says they are visiting her in the night. It's only a matter of time.

This sounds like a really fantastic book. I actually won it last year and was so excited to read it and haven't gotten a change to get to it yet. I need a TBR pile intervention. Doing the TBR pile reading challenge is not working lol!! Great review. I will have to get to it soon.
