When I began reading Send Me a Sign, I knew that it was going to be good. What I didn't know is that it would send me through so many emotions right from the beginning pages. I felt so horrible by what Mia had to go through with not having the proper support from where she should've gotten it from the most. Having cancer at such a young age seems to draw out more pity then when you are older, and this is the exact kind of thing her mother feared. Therefore, she encouraged Mia to go along with her school life, and pretend that all was well.
I can't help but think that this drew her to become even more sick than she already was, adding mass amounts of stress to her already hectic life. Over time, it got the best of Mia. Not a surprise by any means. So when she finally decides to take her life in her own hands, the results aren't perfect but it's a start in the right direction.
